Biography
Dirk werd geboren in Kethel in 1840[1]. Zijn ouders waren Gabriel van Kooij en Maria van Vliet.
In 1864 trouwde hij met Geertruida Korpershoek[2]. Hij was toen boerenarbeider, zij naaister. Ze kregen 6 kinderen: Gabriel, Cornelia, Maria, Arie, Maria en Cornelia. Geertruida overleed enkele maanden na de geboorte van hun jongste kind, in 1872[3]. Het jaar daarop trouwde Dirk met Dina Abel[4]. Met haar kreeg hij nog 3 kinderen: Arie, Gabriel en Adrianus.
Hij overleed in 1929 in Rotterdam[5].
